1. Getting Up an Hour Early

Give yourself an extra hour in the morning to let your mind wake up and form a game plan for the rest of your day. Research shows that early risers tend to be more optimistic, more conscientious, anticipate problems better, and offer better solutions – all traits of an effective leader.

2. Taking Breaks

If you keep going full-speed ahead at all hours of the day, you are going to exhaust yourself and eventually crash. Set aside time during your day to feed yourself, get a good night’s rest, and to unwind with family or friends. Personal time allows you to recharge your batteries and return to work with a fresh perspective.

Not only does exercise make you feel good about yourself, it also keeps your mind and body healthy, keeps you more alert, and teaches discipline. In a study on the lives and habits of wealthy people, Author Thomas Corley found that 76% of Americans engage in some form of physical activity for 30 minutes or more a day, at least four days a week.

4. Giving Back to Your Community

Even more important than donating money is volunteering your time and energy to a cause you care about. Charity and philanthropy are often considered hallmarks of the wealthy and successful. Being able to give back to your community or invest energy into something you care about will make you feel better.

5. Stop Watching So Much TV

According to Corley, 67% of wealthy people watch television for an hour or less a day. Believe in the old adage about how “time is money” and use your time for something more productive. Rather than get caught up in binge watching, try reading a book!
